We could see D. Bundy and Gausman both pitch in Wednesday's playoff opener for Bowie
When the Double-A Bowie Baysox host Akron in Game 1 of a best-of-five Eastern League playoff series Wednesday night, it looks like there is a good chance that the Orioles' last two first-round draft picks will pitch in that game.
Dylan Bundy, taken fourth overall in 2011, is expected to be the starting pitcher. Kevin Gausman, taken fourth overall in June, may follow him to the mound in relief.
Yes, that would be pretty cool to see.
Bundy is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in three Baysox starts. Over 16 2/3 innings, he has walked eight, fanned 13 and allowed a .230 batting average. In 23 starts at three levels this season, the 19-year-old Bundy is 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA.
Gausman is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA in five starts between short-season Single-A Aberdeen and Single-A Frederick. In 15 innings, he has allowed 11 hits with one walk, 13 strikeouts and a .200 batting average against. Gausman will have to be added to the Bowie roster and that seems very likely to happen.

So that is 5-0 in five road this series at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park with an 11-4 record in those games.
* The Orioles outscored New York 17-8 this weekend and had a team ERA of 2.42 in the series. They outhit the Yankees as well.

Another note from the minors: Right-hander Tyler Wilson sure had a big finishing kick to his season with Frederick. Wilson pitched seven scoreless innings Sunday in the Keys' extra-inning win. Over his last three starts, he pitched to a 1.23 ERA over 22 innings for Frederick. In that time, he had a stunning 32-0 strikeout-to-walks ratio. He fanned 12, 10 and 10 without a walk over those outings.
On the year for Frederick, the 23-year-old hurler drafted in round 10 last year out of the University of Virginia is 7-7 with a 3.49 ERA.
