Wilson Ramos goes down with apparent knee injury, leaves game

Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos was injured when he collapsed on his right leg after leaping to take a throw from right field in the top of the sixth against the Diamondbacks on Monday night.

Ramos appeared to injure his right knee on a relay throw from first baseman Ryan Zimmerman.

D-backs right fielder Yasmany Tomas doubled to score two runs on the play. The second run scored on a Zimmerman's high relay throw on a peg from right fielder Brian Goodwin.

Ramos Throws White Sidebar.jpgRamos leaped to catch the throw, came down on his right leg and crumpled to the ground with the ball rolling away. He immediately pointed to his right knee to alert the dugout.

He stayed down on the ground and was assisted by head athletic trainer Paul Lessard, who helped lift him to a standing position. Ramos was then was helped off the field by Lessard and replaced by Pedro Severino.

Ramos came into the game having a career year at the plate, hitting .307 with 22 homers and 80 RBIs in his final contract year before free agency.
