Brian Roberts is in town, though I haven't seen him. His agent, Mark Pieper, visited camp today.
Scott Moore will take ground balls at third base and first base in the early days of camp. Manager Dave Trembley said he'll decide later whether Moore shifts to other positions.
Robert Andino and Justin Turner will play third, second and shortstop. Andino also will take fly balls in the outfield.
Trembley noted that Brad Bergesen is "probably very close" to getting on the mound.
"He's catching up quickly," Trembley said.
Trembley thinks Jim Johnson's problems last year stemmed from the right-hander trying to do too much once he moved into the closer's role, his fastball not having as much sink, and from losing the feel for his breaking ball and throwing it too hard.
"I think when you come in in the ninth inning, sometimes guys think they have to throw harder and try to strike everybody out," Trembley said.
The Orioles are putting Johnson back where it's "best for him, best for the team," Trembley added.
The Orioles will play an intrasquad game on March 1 - orange vs. black - and the coaches will conduct a draft soon to choose teams. The Orioles will hold a clinic for the local Boys and Girls Club after the game.
Kam Mickolio said he dropped about 12 pounds over the winter by running more and watching what he ate.
So it's that easy? What have I been doing wrong?
Not running and not watching what I eat.
