Wrapping it up on the radio

I hope some of the readers here have had a chance to listen to my radio show this year. I've been hosting the Baltimore Baseball Tonight Postgame show on 105.7 FM The Fan in Baltimore each weeknight this season talking about the Orioles and taking listeners' phone calls. If you have not heard the show yet, you have one more chance tonight. But, just one more. The show airs from 10 p.m. to midnight. Tonight is our last show as the station transitions to some other programming and increases its already very strong Ravens coverage. I admit it will be nice to get home before 1 a.m. for a change next week, but I will miss the nightly banter with the callers. We kept each other company this year during another rough season for fans following the Orioles. It's been kind of our own little community on baseball where we laughed a lot and had some heated words at times, but brought passion to the show every night - the callers and myself. I really appreciate the management of CBS Radio in Baltimore for giving me the chance to be back on the radio daily in Baltimore. I hope I repaid their confidence in me. I also want to thank the management here at MASNsports.com for their support in doing the show. It meant for a few hours late each weeknight I would be somewhat away from this blog, but they still thought this would be a good chance for me and supported it all the way. The tone of the last show took a turn earlier this week with the passing of Mike Flanagan. Being on the air Wednesday night at 10 p.m. as the news was just breaking was very, very difficult and it was hard to control my emotions. I have liked and respected few people as much as Flanny and I still can't believe he is gone. So tonight let's celebrate our last night together this season by remembering this special man and a season of late-night discussions about the Birds. Doing the show has been real fun for me, even if the games were not always fun. Thanks to all that tuned in this year and I look forward to one last time together later tonight.
