A look at draft pick signings as today's deadline approaches and some O's-A's notes (O's sign 33rd-rounder)

There is a 5 p.m. Eastern time deadline today for major league teams to sign their 2014 draft picks. Heading into today, the Orioles had signed 30 of their 38 selections, including 19 pitchers.

The Orioles are working to add one more player to that and will likely end today with 31 picks signed from this draft.

One player they will not get is left-handed pitcher Brandon Bonilla. He was taken in the 25th round out of Grand Canyon (Ariz.) University.

Bonilla is the son of former Orioles outfielder Bobby Bonilla and godson of Barry Bonds. He has a fastball that can reach the mid- to upper 90s. The sides never came close in contract talks and Bonilla is expected to go back to school.

The Orioles did not have a pick until the third round last month and they have signed their first 16 picks, getting every player from the third through the 18th rounds. Last year, they signed their first 15 picks. That is a pretty solid job by scouting director Gary Rajsich and his area scouts.

The Orioles' top selection this year was third round-pick Brian Gonzalez, a high school pitcher from Miramar, Fla.

In three outings in the Gulf Coast League, Gonzalez has pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. The lefty has held right-handed batters to one hit in 14 at-bats. He went three innings in his most recent outing Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Orioles' All-Star break ends tonight when they begin a 10-game road trip at Oakland. Their next six games are against the A's and Angels, who have the two best records in the American League. Then they play at Seattle, and the Mariners are seven games over .500.

The O's had two West Coast trips last season, one against the AL West and one against the National League West. They went to Oakland, Seattle and Anaheim early in the year. They went 7-4 on a trip that started in late April.

But the West Coast has not always been kind to the Orioles. They have lost 17 of their last 23 at Oakland. Since 2011, they are 5-9 in Anaheim, and they are 7-8 at Seattle since 2010.

The three pitchers that will take the mound this weekend - Chris Tillman, Wei-Yin Chen and Kevin Gausman - are a combined 5-0 with a 1.38 ERA in eight career starts against the A's.

Keller to Frederick: The Orioles are moving 21-year-old right-hander Jon Keller from Single-A Delmarva to Single-A Frederick. The club's 2013 22nd-round pick out of the University of Tampa, Keller went 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA for the Shorebirds.

In 56 2/3 innings, he gave up 39 hits and just one homer along with 14 walks, 66 strikeouts and a .192 average against. Earlier this week, Keller was named the O's organizational Pitcher of the Month for June. He went 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA during the month. He is the Orioles' No. 17 prospect, according to Baseball America.

Right-handed pitcher Dariel Delgado is moving from short-season Single-A Aberdeen to Delmarva. With the IronBirds, Delgado was 1-2 with a 3.10 ERA in nine games.

O's sign 33rd-round pick: The Orioles came through to sign one more draft pick, inking 33rd-round right-hander Brandon Koch before the signing deadline.

Baltimore drafted Koch out of Temecula Valley (Calif.) High School. He had planned to play college ball at UC-Riverside.
