Alexander Wells rejoins Orioles, today's lineups

Alexander Wells worked two innings and threw 26 pitches in last night's start at Triple-A Norfolk, but he's healthy. The Orioles are keeping him available to work in relief this week.

Chris Ellis is starting on Monday in Toronto, but Wells can be a bulk guy behind him if he's added to the active roster. He's making the trip.

The 26-man roster expands to 28 on Wednesday.

Keegan Akin and Matt Harvey also are starting in Toronto. The Blue Jays are starting Robbie Ray, Hyun Jin Ryu and Steven Matz.

Reliever Hunter Harvey won't be on the trip to Toronto. He's made three rehab appearances with Norfolk and isn't ready to be activated.

"He had a little bit of soreness after his last outing," manager Brandon Hyde said today. "He's playing catch today and hopefully he'll be back on the mound here in the next couple of days."

Hyde didn't specify the area of soreness, but Harvey is on the injured list with a right lat strain.

Austin Hays and DJ Stewart are in the same lineup today while Anthony Santander moves to the bench. Hays is in left field and Stewart in right.

Jorge Mateo is the shortstop and Jahmai Jones is playing second base. Ramón Urías is on the bench.

Spenser Watkins is trying to hold onto his rotation spot. He's carrying a 7.07 ERA after allowing 30 earned runs and 42 hits in his last six starts over 25 2/3 innings.

Watkins is 1-2 against the Rays with a 5.06 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in three starts.

Chris Archer, back with the Rays, has made two starts and three appearances overall and allowed three earned runs (four total) and eight hits with 10 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. He started twice in April before sustaining a forearm injury, returned last Sunday and exited after two innings with a sore left hip.

Archer is 6-10 with a 5.07 ERA and 1.460 WHIP in 20 career games (19 starts) versus the Orioles.

The Rays' bullpen has registered a 1.59 ERA against the Orioles this season.

The Orioles are 1-17 against Tampa Bay. They're trying to avoid being swept for a 17th time this season.
