Andino and Flaherty speak after 9-6 12-inning win

BOSTON - Robert Andino took another concussion test today, and he's still waiting for doctors to give him the green light to play. Andino's mood hasn't improved much since he was drilled on the batting helmet by a Mark Melancon fastball in the ninth inning of Friday night's game. "I feel normal," Andino said, adding that he didn't know whether he passed the two concussion tests. Does he believe Melancon tried to hit him? "At this level, man, I think should you have command of your pitches. But whatever," he said. Told that he seemed pretty angry last night, Andino replied, "Who wouldn't be? You get hit in the head with a 95 (mph) fastball." Retribution for his walk-off single in the final game last year, and the quotes that ensued? "If that's the case, that's (bull)," he said. "How I see it. But whatever." Andino said he could have stayed in last night's game and played today, "but it's precautionary." Ryan Flaherty started at second base today and had a double, triple, two RBIs and two walks. "It's pretty special to help out the team down the stretch here," Flaherty said. "Just doing anything I can to help them win, whether offense or defense. Be patient and when my time comes, try to help the team win. "It was nice to play here, where all my family and friends get to see me play. It's even more special doing it here." Flaherty collided with shortstop J.J. Hardy on a ball hit up the middle by Dustin Pedroia in the bottom of the seventh that loaded the bases with no outs. The Red Sox scored twice. "We both got there at the same time," he said. "Both of us were kind of calling it. It's my fault. I should have let him take it, but it was a miscommunication thing. He ended up with the ball and he said my leg was blocking the base. He was trying to tag it, but he couldn't because of my foot."
