Beltre bashes Texas to win over O's in Game 2 of series

Coming into tonight's game, Orioles pitchers had not allowed a homer in four games, covering 34 1/3 consecutive innings. Had Adrian Beltre not played, they might have made it five in a row for the first time since April 2007. Beltre homered twice and drove in five runs as the Rangers beat the Orioles 8-4 in front of 29,160 at Camden Yards. Texas has now won seven of its last eight games at the Yard. It was Beltre's 19th and 20th homers and his 25th career multi-homer game. He went 4-for-4 with a walk on the night. Zach Britton, who had pitched to an ERA of 2.74 over his last four starts, gave up eight hits, including both Beltre homers, and five runs over five innings. He falls to 2-3 with an ERA of 4.76. The Orioles took a 2-1 lead in the third on Manny Machado's seventh homer. But Texas took the lead for good with a four-run fifth that featured Beltre's three-run homer. J.J. Hardy had a two-run single for the Orioles and Brian Roberts added an RBI single. Chris Davis went 0-for-3 tonight and is 1-for-21 over his last six games. Winning pitcher Martin Perez gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings. The 22-year-old lefty threw 99 pitches and improved to 3-1 with an ERA of 2.08 in five starts. He has allowed just two earned runs over his last 23 innings. The Orioles have lost six of the last eight games, fall to 25-19 at home and 49-42 overall with game three of the series set for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night.
