Bundy, Harvey named to Baseball America's top 50 list (Bowie's All-Stars)

Two Orioles pitching prospects made the list today when Baseball America released its list of the current top 50 prospects in baseball. Dylan Bundy was rated No. 10 and Hunter Harvey was No. 31. On the Baseball America top 100 list before the season, Bundy was No. 15 and Harvey was not ranked. The 21-year-old Bundy just recently returned to pitch in the minors as his comeback from Tommy John surgery in June 2013 continues. In four starts for short-season Single-A Aberdeen and Single-A Frederick, he is 0-1 with an ERA of 1.83. Over 19 2/3 innings, he has allowed 14 hits and four runs with five walks and 25 strikeouts. The 19-year-old Harvey is 6-4 with an ERA of 3.01 over 15 starts for Single-A Delmarva. In 77 2/3 innings, Harvey has allowed 56 hits with 32 walks and 93 strikeouts. Harvey will play in the All-Star Futures Game for Team USA next Sunday. He ranks first in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts and opponents' batting average (.202), and ninth in ERA. Baseball Prospectus also today released its list of the top 50 prospects and Bundy was ranked No. 8 and Harvey was No. 21. Let's check out some other league leaders among O's minor league players. Double-A Bowie right-hander Oliver Drake leads the Eastern League with 21 saves. Teammate Christian Walker is second in homers with 20 and first with 76 RBIs. Bowie's Niuman Romero leads the league with 62 walks and with an OBP of .448. Dariel Alvarez is tied for first with 105 hits. Frederick outfielder Michael Burgess leads the Carolina League with 63 RBIs and 43 extra-base hits and is second with 15 homers. Teammate Parker Bridwell is second in the league with 91 strikeouts. Delmarva catcher Chance Sisco leads the South Atlantic League with a .344 average. His .412 OBP ranks fourth. Teammate Drew Dosch has 100 hits to rank second in the league. First baseman Christian Walker, outfielder Dariel Alvarez, left-hander Tim Berry and right-hander Oliver Drake were selected. Walker will be making his first pro All-Star game appearance. He leads the league in RBIs (76) and total bases (183), is second in home runs (20), third in hits (104), third in extra-base hits (37) and tied for third in runs (56). Playing his first full season of professional baseball in the United States, Cuban defector Alvarez is tied for the league lead in hits (105), is second in RBIs (66), tied for fourth in extra-base hits (35), fourth in total bases (169) and fifth in doubles (20). The Baysox starting center fielder also has 10 outfield assists. Berry is 4-5 with a 4.04 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 17 starts and 98 innings. Berry is third in the league in strikeouts and is 3-1 with a 2.72 ERA in 10 home starts. Drake has been one of the best closers in the minors. He leads the Eastern League with 21 saves in 23 chances. He has converted his last 13 save opportunities and he recorded 15 consecutive scoreless outings from May 22 through June 30. Frederick outfielder Mike Yastrzemski has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week. He hit for the cycle on Saturday night. In 16 games with the Keys, Yastrzemski is batting .333 with four doubles, a triple, a homer and 13 RBIs.
