Lace up your running shoes, don't forget to stretch and get ready to help a great cause on Saturday, Aug. 1. For the sixth straight year, the Casey Cares 5K, sponsored by MASN and CBS Radio, will take place at Camden Yards in partnership with OriolesREACH. Although the event is still a few months away, registration is already open.
Proceeds of the event benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, an organization that provides ongoing, uplifting programs to critically ill children and their families.
"We are thrilled to partner with such an incredible organization as the Orioles for our 5K for the third year in row," said Casey Baynes, founder and executive director of the Casey Cares Foundation. "While many Casey Cares children do their running through the halls in the hospital, you can help support these critically ill children and their families by running or walking in our 5K."
The run/walk is a 3.1-mile loop that begins and ends at Camden Yards. When runners cross the finish line, they will be on the field! All runners will receive post-race refreshments, and those who register early will receive a race t-shirt.
Winners of each age group will be announced in a ceremony before the O's 7:05 p.m. game versus the Tigers at Camden Yards.
Registration for the race is now open until the day of the race. Participants can register either as an individual or with a team. The cost is $30 per person through June 8, $35 from June 9 through July 31 and $40 on race day. Visit www.caseycares5k.org to register.
The Casey Cares Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides personalized, uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and family members throughout six states. Programs include: Family Festivities, Celebration Vacations, Birthday Blasts, Kami's Jammies, Caring Connection group parties and Better Together. For more information, visit www.CaseyCares.org.
