Chris Davis' bat starts to heat up again

Chris Davis is getting hot again at the plate. He recently went through a 10-game stretch where he went just 1-for-35 which dropped his average to .267. But he began today at .275 and his RBI single in the third inning gave the O's a 3-0 lead this afternoon at Seattle. Davis is 1-for-2 so far today and that makes him 8-for-21 over his last six games with two homers and nine RBIs in that time. He now has 40 RBIs on the year to tie for second on the team with Matt Wieters behind team leader Adam Jones who has 44. Jones hit a solo homer in the second today to give the O's a 1-0 lead. It was his 20th of the year. Jones entered today with just one homer and four RBIs over his past 19 games. J.J. Hardy added an RBI groundout ahead of Davis' single in the third and that was just his fifth RBI over his past 20 games. Mark Reynolds led off the the Orioles' two-run third inning today with a bloop single. Reynolds had been 0-for-20 over his previous seven games. The Orioles reach the season's halfway point today by playing their 81st game. A win would leave them at 44-37 and on an 88-win pace. The Orioles will match their series win total of all last year if they win today to take this series. That would make them 16-10-1 in series in 2012. Also a victory this afternoon would give the O's back-to-back wins for the first time since June 16-17 at Atlanta.
