Chris Tillman allows three homers as K.C. wins 7-3

Chris Tillman has been pitching well and not giving up the longball for the Orioles. Tonight, though, he gave up three homers and six runs as Kansas City beat the Orioles 7-3 in front of 40,456 at Camden Yards. Tillman had allowed just two homers over 34 innings in six O's starts, but tonight he gave up that trio in the first 2 2/3 frames as K.C. led 4-0 after three innings and 7-0 heading to the last of the seventh. Tillman gave up six hits over 5 2/3 innings, along with two walks and five strikeouts. He is now 5-2 and his ERA jumped from 2.38 to 3.40 after he threw 109 pitches, 58 for strikes. Alex Gordon hit a pair of solo homers, Billy Butler added a solo shot and Salvador Perez a two-run shot for the Royals. Gordon led off the game with a homer for the second time in this series and the ninth time in his career. This was his second career two-homer game. The Orioles didn't get to Royals starter Luis Mendoza until scoring three times in the seventh on a Manny Machado RBI double and Omar Quintanilla's two-run single. Machado is 5-for-12 over his first three games and added the double to a single, triple and two homers he produced in his first two games. The Orioles fell to 61-53 with this loss and 29-28 at home. It is just their second loss over the last eight games and fourth in the past 13 contests. The O's host the Royals Sunday at 1:35 in the series finale.
