Clubhouse quotes from Machado, Davis, Garcia and more after walk-off win

Here are some clubhouse quotes after the Orioles' marathon 8-6 win in 13 innings over the Oakland A's. Manny Machado hit the game-winning two-run homer in the 13th to end the 4-hour, 27-minute game.

Machado, Chris Davis and Adam Jones went 8-for-17 tonight with three homers and all eight RBIs.

It was Machado's second career walk-off homer. He hit one on July 29, 2014 against the Angels. It was the Orioles' fourth walk-off homer of the year. David Lough, Jonathan Schoop and Matt Wieters hit the other walk-off shots.

Jason Garcia needed just six pitches to retire the side in the top of the 13th and gain his first major league win. He got the game ball and said he would give it to his parents.

Machado on the walk-off homer: "Felt great. It was a long, grinding game and we came out with the win. It (stinks) that we gave up that lead in the ninth with those little basehits. But we had to keep fighting, keep grinding and stay positive with it. We needed this win. A much-needed win. These extra-innings games we have to come up clutch. Every single inning or pitch from here on out could make the difference."

Machado on the three Orioles combining for all eight RBIs: "You know what, it's a team thing. Our bullpen came in and helped out Ubaldo (Jimenez). This is the type of team we are. We're going to pick up each other. Every player on this team knows what they have to do and we have faith in everybody in here. We're trying to get back on top."

Machado, are these the types of games the Orioles have to win now?: "Hell yeah it is. These are the games. Every team now is in contention. The schedule we have coming up is tough. These are the type of games that will take us where we need to be. The playoffs will be tough if we make it. These are the type of games that will prepare us."

Machado, did Schoop tell you anything?: "He told me, 'Everybody wants to go home, let's go finish this off.' Then Caleb (Joseph) got that nice double. I was just trying to make good contact, drive the ball somewhere. We try to keep it loose. That is what we have in this clubhouse, everyone joking around and that is what we will continue to do."

Zach Britton on giving up two runs in the ninth: "They didn't hit anything hard. The best ball they hit all day was Danny (Valencia's). So, just try to make better pitches I guess and try to keep them to one run. On 0-2 I could have made a better pitch there. It was one of those days and it happens with the sinker. Won't be the last time that happens."

Jason Garcia on getting his first MLB win: "That was awesome. Manny came up and I think we were all hoping something big like that would happen. So that was cool. I just tried not to do too much. Just attack hitters and pitch to contact. Not going to lie, I got out there and was pretty nervous. But tried not to do too much and trust my stuff."

Garica on his rehab time at Double-A Bowie: "Mentally prepared and physically prepared to get my stuff right. Get more consistent with fastball command and just overall trusting my stuff."

Garcia, what was it like with uncertainty whether you would be back on the roster or not?: "You know you learn things that are out of your control, you try not to worry too much about them. I tried to just get in a routine and take it a day at a time."

Davis on the standings right now: "We know where we are. We're not checking the standings between innings or anything, but we know where we stand. Every game is important and we have to focus for nine innings, or 13 innings or whatever it takes to get a win."

Davis homered against a left-hander tonight and is batting .317 against southpaws this year: "I think a lot of it is just kind of cutting down on my swing with a lefty out there. You can't get big. You can't cheat. You have to stay square and really let the ball travel. That has been the biggest thing, and not miss the pitch when you get it."
