Davey says bullpen is good to go in Game 2

Despite using all seven relievers in Monday's 5-4, 13-inning marathon win over the Atlanta Braves, Nationals manager Davey Johnson said they will all be available for Tuesday's Game 2. Even Craig Stammen, who went two full innings, will be available. "He is probably good to go too," Johnson said. "He is the strongest one out there." Johnson said the bullpen, which includes three lefties and four right-handers, will be ready if needed after Stephen Strasburg tonight. "They are all volunteering," Johnson said. "(We) should be alright." With all the talk of how good the Braves bullpen is and has been, the Nationals bullpen outdueled them when it mattered most in Monday's opener. Starter Jordan Zimmermann went five innings, while Tom Gorzelanny, Ryan Mattheus, Drew Storen, Sean Burnett, Tyler Clippard and Stammen appeared in that order from innings six through 13. During that span, they combined to keep the Braves off the scoreboard, scattering four hits and striking out six. Mattheus emerged for a pregame workout and confirmed that all the relievers are ready to pitch tonight and said the game was even just as amazing as the 13-inning game against the Reds or the 14-inning matchup against the Yankees. In the New York game, Zimmermann started and six relievers were employed before the Nationals fell 5-3. Back on April 13, Stammen (6-1) notched the win in that 13-inning, 2-1 victory over the Reds. Five relievers were used in that contest. That game was also started by Zimmermann, who went seven innings before the bullpen took over.
