Diamondbacks bomb Fister, Nats lose 6-4

Doug Fister rolled through the first two innings facing the minimum batters. With one out in the third, Fister fell behind 3-1, and then left a sinker out over the plate and Nick Ahmed pummeled it deep over the wall in left-center field. The solo shot was Ahmed's seventh homer of the year and the tenth longball allowed by Fister.

The Nationals are still looking for their first base runner against Diamondbacks rookie right-hander Zack Godley.

Update: A.J. Pollock singled to center to start the fourth. Two batters later, David Peralta crushed a changeup over the centerfield wall for a towering two-run homer.

Welington Castillo followed with a blast to center to make it 4-0. It's the second straight night a Nats starter has given up back-to-back home runs.

Update II: Singles from Ahmed and Ender Inciarte led to another Diamondbacks run on a sacrifice fly to right from Pollock in the fifth.

Update III: Fister's night ended after six innings. The right-hander surrendered five runs on eight hits (three homers) with no walks and six strikeouts.

Tanner Roark took over and pitched a scoreless seventh.

Update IV: Drew Storen tossed a perfect eighth for the Nationals. Jonathan Papelbon made his home debut at Nationals Park in the ninth and served up a solo homer to Jake Lamb.

Update V: The Nats made it interesting in the ninth on a solo homer from Ryan Zimmerman, an RBI single from Wilson Ramos and a two-run double by Michael A. Taylor.

The comeback fell short and the Diamondbacks beat the Nationals 6-4.
