The Washington Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher AnÃbal SÃ¡nchez from the 10-day injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher James Bourque to Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

SÃ¡nchez, 35, returns to the Nationals after being placed on the 10-day injured list on May 17 with a left hamstring strain. In nine starts prior to his injury, he was 0-6 with a 5.10 ERA (24 ER/42.1 IP) and recorded 41 strikeouts. He allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of the nine starts.

SÃ¡nchez, returns to the mound in Atlanta where he spent the 2018 season, going 7-6 with a 2.83 ERA in 25 games (24 starts) for the Braves. His 2.83 ERA was the second-best mark of his career and the best since he posted a 2.57 ERA in 2013 as a member of the Detroit Tigers. He struck out 135 batters in 136.2 innings and posted a career-best 1.08 WHIP. He surrendered just 15 home runs, his fewest since 2014 with Detroit.

Bourque, 25, made one appearance out of Washington's bullpen.
