Forget the Mayans.
When Teddy Roosevelt finally wins the Presidents Race, we'll know the world is ending.
Everyone's favorite lovable loser has yet to win the Nationals' mid-game ritual and, frankly, it's overdue.
But while Teddy still sports a goose egg in the win column, the Nationals are presenting him with some time in the spotlight.
The Nationals will dedicate the last homestand of the 2012 regular season to Teddy when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies from Oct. 1-3.
Known for his steadfast determination and resilience in the face of adversity, Teddy has become a fan favorite, despite his inability to win a single Geico Presidents Race in the event's seven-year history. The race is a Nationals tradition that takes place in the middle of the fourth inning during every game at Nationals Park.
As part of the "Teddy in 2012" series, the Nationals will distribute unique Teddy-themed promotional items during the final three games of the regular season. The first 20,000 fans to enter Nationals Park through the Center Field Gate before each game will receive the following giveaways:
Monday, Oct. 1: Teddy eye black
Tuesday, Oct. 2: Teddy bumper sticker
Wednesday, Oct. 3: Teddy lapel pin
So come out and see the Nationals face the Phillies. More importantly, however, come see if Teddy can finally end the streak. For tickets, click here.
