Harrisburg, Hagerstown seek playoff clinchers, Potomac opens Mills Cup finals

Several Nationals farm teams are playing big postseason contests this evening. Double-A Harrisburg dropped the Erie SeaWolves 4-1 in Game 3 of the best-of-five Western Division championship series in the Eastern League Friday. Nathan Karns fired seven shutout innings for the win. Game 4 is tonight at 7 p.m. at Metro Bank Park. The Senators advance to the finals with a series-clinching victory tonight. High Single-A Potomac opens the Mills Cup championship tonight in Woodbridge, Va., against the Salem Red Sox. The P-Nats dropped Lynchburg 3-2 on a walk-off, game-winning RBI single by recently called up outfielder Will Piwnica-Worms in the bottom of the ninth. The P-Nats swept the series 2-0. Potomac is going after its first Carolina League championship since the 2010 season. The P-Nats are making their first playoff appearance since 201 and have won four Mills Cup titles all-time. Game 1 of the Mills Cup championship series will be played at Pfitzner Stadium tonight at 6:35 p.m. The P-Nats will host the first two games of the series. Low Single-A Hagerstown lost 6-3 to West Virginia in 11 innings Friday, which evened their series at one game apiece in the best-of-three Northern Division series. The Suns and Power go at it in Game 3 tonight. The winner-take-all finale is at 7:05 p.m. at Municipal Stadium. Left-hander Kylin Turnbull (6-5, 3.58) faces right-hander Luis Heredia (7-3, 3.05) for West Virginia.
