Now that Steve Pearce has started his injury rehab assignment, the Orioles will attempt to speed it along.
Pearce received four at-bats today as the designated hitter for the Gulf Coast League team. He's scheduled to play in the field on Friday - perhaps three innings in left field, three in right and three at first base.
Assuming that Pearce's oblique doesn't tighten up, he will fly back to Maryland and report to one of the affiliates for games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Orioles will decide whether Pearce is ready to join them in Kansas City next week. Manager Buck Showalter said it might be "a little bit of a push" for Pearce to play in Monday's night's series opener.
Reliever Chaz Roe, on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, is more likely to be activated closer to Sept. 1 than before it.
Hunter Harvey, on the disabled list with a strained right flexor mass, threw a 25-pitch bullpen session today. The Orioles want him to pitch in the fall instructional league or Arizona Fall League.
Mike Wright is slated to throw a three-inning, 45-pitch simulated game on Saturday. He's on the disabled list with a strained left calf.
Tyler Wilson, on the disabled list with a strained oblique, should be back on a mound "shortly," according to Showalter.
