Jimenez hit hard as O's lose series finale 11-3

Ubaldo Jimenez was hoping to put it all together today in his third Orioles start, but it didn't happen. Jimenez allowed five runs this afternoon as Toronto crushed the Orioles 11-3 in front of 39,281 at Camden Yards. The right-hander, who came in with an 0-2 record and 6.75 ERA, gave up a long homer to Colby Rasmus, the second batter he faced. It didn't get much better after that throughout the day. He was knocked out during Toronto's biggest inning of the year, a five-run top of the sixth. Jimenez went 5 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs with two walks and three strikeouts. He falls to 0-3 with a 7.31 ERA and has given up 23 hits and 13 runs in 16 innings. Jimenez allowed two homers and has given up four total in his three starts. After the All-Star break last season, went he went 6-5 with an ERA of 1.82 for Cleveland. He gave up a total of three homers over 84 innings and 13 starts. Josh Stinson, who came on in relief in the sixth, gave up six runs over two innings. Meanwhile the O's didn't do much better on offense by scoring just one run on five hits through seven innings against winning pitcher Mark Buehrle. In the eighth the O's got back-to-back solo homers from Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. It was Davis' first of 2014. Adam Jones had an RBI groundout in the first and added an infield single in the third, which was the 1,000th hit of his career. After scoring 19 runs on 32 hits in the last two games of their series at Yankee Stadium, the Orioles scored a total of five runs in this series, losing two of the three games. The Orioles fall to 2-4 at home, 4-5 against the AL East and 5-7 on the year. Tampa Bay comes to town tomorrow night when Wei-Yin Chen (1-1, 6.75 ERA) faces Chris Archer (1-0, 1.38 ERA) in the opener of a three-game series.
