Jones with RBI against Uehara (O's win 3-2)

BOSTON - Adam Jones broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh inning tonight, lining an RBI double to left field against former teammate Koji Uehara. Jones didn't wait long. Uehara replaced Andrew Miller with two on and two outs, and Jones swung at the first pitch. The result was Jones' second RBI and his 10th of the season. He's 2-for-4 tonight and 18-for-38 with five doubles on the season. Jones has six multi-hit games out of eight played by the Orioles. All the damage came with two outs. Manny Machado singled, making him 3-for-4. Miller entered the game and walked Nick Markakis, enabling an Orioles designated hitter to reach base. The game wasn't stopped and Markakis didn't get to keep the ball. Uehara came in and Jones ambushed him. Chris Davis was walked intentionally - he's reached base three times, including his sixth home run - and Matt Wieters flied to left. Jackie Bradley Jr. took a bad route to the ball. He broke back, came in, veered toward the line and made the catch. I was expecting him to stop in the Orioles' dugout for sunflower seeds. Brian Matusz took the mound in the bottom of the seventh, but manager Buck Showalter brought in Pedro Strop without the left-hander facing a batter in the inning. Matusz did his job. Two batters faced, two strikeouts, two inherited runners stranded. Meanwhile, the Yankees were rained out again tonight, but their rotation will stay the same for the series against the Orioles that begins Friday night in the Bronx. CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Andy Pettitte will make the starts. Update: The Orioles won their second straight game and took the series, defeating the Red Sox, 3-2. Jim Johnson picked up his fourth save after Strop pitched a scoreless seventh and Darren O'Day retired the side in order in the eighth. Johnson, who survived Stephen Drew's one-out single, and O'Day pitched in back-to-back games. The Orioles are back above .500 at 5-4, and they're now 1-3 in one-run games.
