Freezing rain, snow, high winds, temperatures in the 20s.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack - plus a scarf, mittens, hot chocolate and a set of jumper cables shoved up my nose to keep me functioning.
(Nose was my second choice. I was advised by a friend that my first choice probably would get me fired.)
Let's play snow ball tonight at Camden Yards while also pausing ever so briefly to appreciate Tropicana Field and all of its climate-controlled goodness. And I do mean briefly. The Orioles' home ballpark still rules, and it welcomes the diehards who know how to dress in layers.
I plan on wearing 12, but I'm more of a hothouse plant - until it's August and I whine incessantly about the heat.
If the Orioles avoid their first postponement of 2016, they may be playing their last game before the roster undergoes its first change. Left-hander Brian Matusz is expected to come off the disabled list on Sunday unless there's been a sudden shift in plans. The eight-man bullpen is a goner.
Vance Worley moves into the rotation Sunday as the fifth starter unless tonight's game is impacted by the weather. The Orioles have been staffing three long relievers, including Tyler Wilson and T.J. McFarland, but the end is near.
"A lot of things we've been doing with our bullpen we can't do now," said manager Buck Showalter. "As I was trying to explain to somebody from our organization, having two or three long guys and all these guys in the 'pen, it's gone now. And what we did with those guys we won't be able to do during the season, some of the things we did in the 'pen the first three games. So we're going to have to try to get deeper in some of these games, like Ubaldo (Jimenez) did."
Matusz allowed one run and struck out three batters in two innings over two games at Double-A Bowie. He's been on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his lower back.
A reliever must be removed to create a spot for Matusz. Wilson and McFarland have options. Wilson tossed three scoreless innings on opening day. McFarland tossed three scoreless last night and retired the last nine batters.
Mychal Givens also has options. He's allowed three runs and five hits in two innings this week, but he was sensational last year with the Orioles and Baysox.
McFarland's value to the club is debated within the organization, but he's a left-handed long man behind five right-handed starters and he doesn't need much recovery time between appearances.
Shameless plug alert: I'm back on "Wall to Wall Baseball" from noon-2 p.m. on MASN.
