New Caps fan Detwiler promises to be Rocking the Red

Ross Detwiler loves the puck. It's not unusual to see a throwback lid resting on the shelf of his locker, and his love of the St. Louis Blues stems from growing up in St. Louis. So what was the Nationals lefty doing over the weekend at Kettler Capitals Iceplex for a Capitals practice? Turns out the longtime Blues fan may be switching allegiances. During the USO Holiday Tour - in which a group of athletes including Nationals teammate Craig Stammen traversed four countries, visiting military bases over seven days - Detwiler became friends with Capitals forward Matt Hendricks. Hendricks invited Detwiler to see the Caps practice once the NHL players and owners solved their labor issues, and before he could head to Kettler, a package arrived at Detwiler's home containing a new Caps cap. That's the lid Detwiler donned for this interview with Caps radio voice John Walton. In the chat, Detwiler noted how Washington, D.C., sports teams are on the upswing and how he'd be Rocking the Red before reporting to spring training in Viera, Fla., in about five weeks.
