New starter, but similar result as O's fall to Chicago

The Orioles entered this series with Chicago with a record of 10-2 in home games on the year decided by just one run. Now that record is 10-4. After last night's 7-6 loss, tonight the Orioles fell behind 4-0, before losing 4-3 to the White Sox. The Orioles have lost six of their last seven games, fall to 8-17 in the second half and they are 8-24 over the last 32 games. In his first start as an Oriole Jo-Jo Reyes, claimed a week ago on waivers from Toronto, gave up four runs in four innings to take the loss. He gave up five hits, including a pair of solo homers. Reyes falls to 5-9 on the year with an ERA of 5.49. On a night they won by a run, Chicago got a break in the top of the third. It looked like Alexei Ramirez was thrown out stealing second but Robert Andino missed him with a swipe tag and he later scored on A.J Pierzynski's RBI double. Buck Showalter was ejected from this game by third base ump Phil Cuzzi in the last of the fifth when he argued a call where Nick Markakis was called out trying to steal third. Replays showed he was safe and Showalter eventually picked up his second ejection of the season. Markakis, J.J. Hardy and Adam Jones drove in runs in that three-run fifth, but that was the only inning in which the Orioles scored. Baltimorean Gavin Floyd got the win, improving to 10-10 with a 4.53 ERA. He gave up three runs and seven hits over 6 2/3. Floyd is now 3-0 with an ERA of 2.28 in four starts at Camden Yards. The Orioles have been outscored 7-2 in the first three innings of the two games in this series and by 233-143 in those innings on the season. This loss ensures the Orioles will not win this series and they have not won any of their last 12 series since taking two of three from the Reds June 24-26.
