Nolan Reimold said he feels he can avoid the disabled list

He is not in tonight's starting lineup, but Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold is hopeful that he will soon be in there. For now, he feels like his neck spasms are making progress to that end and that he will avoid going on the disabled list. "I assume I can and am going to (avoid the DL). I think I'm almost ready," Reimold said. "I think we are being cautious. It was there when I played in Anaheim (on Friday) and then it just tightened up real bad after the game and the next morning. I think they want to make sure I'm all right and can come back and remain back and not set myself back any further. "It's getting better. It's getting there. Just took some swings in the cage and felt pretty good. I'm going to try and take a round of BP (today) and see how it goes out there. "I haven't thrown yet. I can move it (his neck) back and forth. It's more (an issue moving the neck) forward right now anyways. Now it's just going forward, but right now it's pretty loose." Reimold is off a fast start, batting .370 with four doubles, five homers, nine RBIs and a slugging percentage of .783 through 11 games and 46 at-bats. He said his neck feels better than it did over the weekend on the west coast. "After the game (Friday) it was pretty bad and the next morning it was pretty bad," Reimold said. "So it took me a while to calm it down and get it flexible enough to where I could start swinging. I'll go out to the field and do it again and see how it goes out there. "It's been exciting when I was out there. It's just frustrating I've been on the sidelines and in the training room. I just want to get this over with and be back on the field." He hasn't played since that game Friday, but, over his past six games he is 12-for-25 with five homers and four multi-hit games. But tonight will be the ninth game this year that he has not started.
