O's take an early six-run lead at Seattle (updated)

The Orioles picked up tonight where they left off on offense Sunday in Oakland. A day after getting nine runs in a win over the A's, the Orioles scored three in the first inning and four in the second tonight to take a 7-1 lead after two innings at Seattle. It started with the first batter when Nate McLouth homered to right on an 0-2 pitch for his eighth career leadoff homer. Later in the inning, Mark Reynolds produced an RBI infield hit and Manny Machado plated a run with a single up the middle. The onslaught continued in the second when the O's added four more hits to knock Hector Noesi out of the game. That frame featured a J.J. Hardy RBI double, Adam Jones RBI single, Matt Wieters RBI grounder and Reynolds RBI double. The Orioles had seven different players with RBIs Sunday and six had RBIs tonight in the first two innings. Noesi was replaced by lefty Oliver Perez after allowing eight hits and seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, throwing 54 pitches as his ERA increased from 5.54 to 6.09. After scoring 10 runs total in the four games before yesterday, the O's now have plated 16 runs in their past 11 innings. Chris Tillman, who is 3-0 with an ERA of 0.83 in three career starts against the Mariners, gave up a solo homer to Michael Saunders in the last of the second. But the O's took a big early lead tonight as they look to move to within a half-game of the Yankees, who are off tonight. Wieters with a bomb: Make that an eight-run lead, 9-1, after Wieters' two-run shot to center in the fourth. That is his third homer in two games and 22nd on the year to tie his career high, set last year. Over his last 34 games, counting this one, Wieters has hit nine homers with 29 RBIs.
