Orioles agree to terms with Hunter and Patton (Davis, Matusz also settle)

The Orioles have until 1 p.m. today to sign their remaining arbitration-eligible players before the sides exchange figures and hearing dates are arranged. Try to breathe normally. They reached agreement with pitcher Bud Norris last night and have come to terms on one-year deals with Tommy Hunter and Troy Patton this morning, according to sources. I actually was exchanging text messages with Hunter earlier today. He hadn't heard that a deal was done, then got the call a few seconds later while soaking in a whirlpool. Nice timing. Hunter, 27, made $1.82 million last season and will earn $3 million in 2014. He was 6-5 with a 2.81 ERA in 68 games and currently is in line to become the Orioles' closer in 2014. Patton, 28, was 2-0 with a 3.70 ERA in 56 games. His salary jumps from $815,000 to $1.27 million. Patton will serve a 25-game suspension to begin the 2014 season after a second positive test for an amphetamine. The Orioles will confirm the signings after 1 p.m. Chris Davis, Matt Wieters and Brian Matusz are the last three arbitration-eligible Orioles. Davis made $3.3 million last season, Wieters $5.5 million and Matusz $1.6 million. Also, former Oriole Mark Reynolds reportedly has signed a minor league deal with the Brewers. Reynolds' agent contacted the Orioles recently to gauge their interest, but they signed Delmon Young to a minor league deal and he's expected to serve as their primary right-handed designated hitter. Update: Davis also has settled. His salary jumps from $3.3 million to $10.35 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, after he hit .286/.370/.634 with 42 doubles, 53 homers and 138 RBIs. Still no word on Wieters or Matusz as the deadline has passed. Update II: Matusz also has settled. I don't have the terms, but he's done. Matusz was 2-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 65 appearances. He held left-handers to a .168 average. Update III: Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Matusz will earn $2.4 million this season. I was just able to confirm it.
