Villar is batting second behind Peterson.
Manager Buck Showalter has made a few other tweaks to his lineup, including Trey Mancini starting at first base and Chris Davis serving as the designated hitter.
Mancini is batting cleanup ahead of Davis, who struck out three times in Game 1.
Cedric Mullins has moved up to seventh in the order after batting ninth last night and eighth earlier today.
Joey Rickard is starting in left field.
Yefry RamÃrez is making his eighth major league start. He debuted against the Red Sox on June 13 and allowed three runs with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings, and he faced them on July 24 and allowed three runs with six strikeouts in five innings.
J.D. Martinez, Blake Swihart and Mookie Betts homered off him in the rematch. Betts has homered twice against him.
The Red Sox decided to start right-hander Hector Velázquez in Game 2. He's 7-0 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.414 WHIP this season in 33 games (three starts).
Velázquez has made three appearances against the Orioles this season, including one start, and allowed two runs and nine hits with seven strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings. Adam Jones is 3-for-4 against him.

A scoring change has removed the error from catcher Austin Wynns and given it to third baseman Renato Núñez for failing to catch the ball on Xander Bogaerts' stolen base and run in the sixth inning.

Update: Núñez's RBI double with no outs in the second inning scored Mancini and gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead. But they stranded two runners in scoring position.
Update II: Mancini had an RBI single off Brandon Workman in the third inning and J.D. Martinez hit a solo home run off RamÃrez in the fourth. The Orioles lead 2-1.
Update III: Eduardo Nuñez led off the fifth with a triple and scored on Dan Butler's sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Update IV: Steve Pearce came home on Cody Carroll's wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie, but Joey Rickard homered with two outs in the bottom half to knot the score 3-3.
