Orioles lineup and Hays update

The Orioles close out their series tonight against the Athletics with Adam Jones on the bench for the fourth time in six games.

Joey Rickard is in right field tonight. John Andreoli is in left field.

Jonathan Villar is the shortstop, with Breyvic Valera at second base. Tim Beckham is the designated hitter and Chris Davis joins Jones on the bench.

An Orioles rotation that's painted in uncertainty is in need of a solid outing from Dylan Bundy, who's registered an 8.29 ERA and 1.671 WHIP since the All-Star break. Seventeen of his club-record 37 home runs surrendered have come in nine second-half starts.

Bundy hasn't completed six innings in his last six starts. He's allowed six earned runs (seven total) and 16 hits in 14 career innings against the Athletics - two starts and one relief appearance.

Khris Davis is 3-for-7 with a double and home run against Bundy.

Left-hander Brett Anderson didn't allow a run in three of four starts before lasting only 2 2/3 innings in Houston and surrendering five runs and seven hits on Aug. 27. His ERA jumped from 3.47 to 4.02.

Anderson is making his 14th start tonight. He was on the disabled list for two weeks with nerve irritation in his arm.

In two career starts against the Orioles, Anderson has allowed eight earned runs (nine total) and 15 hits over 11 innings.

Anderson has reverse splits, with left-handers owning a career .306 average against him and right-hander at .264.

The Orioles are enduring their eighth losing streak of six games or more this season. They're 0-5 against Oakland this year. They were one-hit last night for the first time since Sept. 22, 2014 in New York.

Trey Mancini is batting .338 (27-for-80) in 21 home games since the break.

Austin Hays swinging grey jersey Os 0918 tall--sidebar.jpgDouble-A Bowie outfielder Austin Hays tweeted today that his left ankle surgery went well. He provided more details on Instagram, about how he had a stress fracture and some cartilage defects and how Dr. Robert Anderson inserted two screws in the ankle and performed a bone graft to repair the cartilage and "prevent my cyst from coming back."

"Now it's time for the comeback," he wrote.
