The shuttle has dropped off Jimmy Yacabonis at Camden Yards.
Yacabonis is making his latest return to the Orioles, who recalled him this morning from Triple-A Norfolk. He replaces Luis Ortiz, who was optioned following last night's 13-2 loss to the Red Sox.
The bullpen is holding eight relievers, though Josh Rogers won't be available for a while after throwing 82 pitches last night in 4 1/3 innings.
Yacabonis is available this afternoon after working only two-thirds of an inning Thursday. He hasn't allowed a run in his last three appearances and is 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 12 games over 19 innings.
Yacabonis has walked 13 batters and struck out 19, and his chances of staying for a while increase if he can find the plate with more consistency.
The Orioles optioned Yacabonis on April 28 and recalled him on May 11 as Evan Phillips' replacement. He returned to Norfolk on May 16 after the Orioles reinstated Richard Bleier from the injured list.
After breaking camp with the team, Yacabonis made 11 appearances and allowed 12 runs and 21 hits with seven walks and nine strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings. He's 3-3 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.506 WHIP in 37 career major league games.
The Orioles abandoned their plan to make Yacabonis a starter, keeping him in a relief role at both levels.
Dylan Bundy starts today for the Orioles. He's allowed three earned runs or fewer in his last seven outings since April.
Bundy is 3-7 with a 5.08 ERA and 1.513 ERA in 17 career games (13 starts) versus the Red Sox.
Brock Holt is 9-for-14 with three doubles and a home run against Bundy. Andrew Benintendi is 9-for-27 with two doubles, a triple and a home run.
J.D. Martinez is 2-for-13 with a double, home run and seven strikeouts.
Left-hander Chris Sale is 2-7 with a 3.52 ERA and 0.960 WHIP in 14 starts this season and he's averaging 12.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
In 19 career appearances against the Orioles, Sale has gone 7-2 with a 2.54 ERA and 1.059 WHIP. He made a start at Camden Yards on May 8 and held them to one run with no walks and 14 strikeouts in eight innings.
Sale hasn't lost to the Orioles since Aug. 18, 2014 with the White Sox.
Chris Davis is 2-for-22 with nine strikeouts lifetime against Sale. Future All-Star Trey Mancini is 8-for-22 with three doubles and a triple.
