Ozzie Martinez leaves game with injury

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Orioles are losing again today and another player came off the field with an injury.

Double-A shortstop Ozzie Martinez collided with second baseman Garabez Rosa while trying to field a bouncer from the Red Sox's Travis Shaw in the bottom of the sixth inning. Martinez ranged beyond the bag and appeared to get hit in the head by Rosa's elbow.

Martinez eventually sat up and rose to his feet. He slowly walked off the field with Wesley as the crowd applauded.

Adrian Marin replaced Martinez at shortstop. Rosa stayed in the game and he singled leading off the eighth.

Manager Buck Showalter had just made massive substitutions before the inning.

Martinez and Rosa are teammates at Bowie. Rosa arrived today from minor league camp, while Martinez is a non-roster invite.

Rosa also joined the Orioles yesterday for both split-squad games.

Ali Solis, who led off with a walk against reliever Chaz Roe, raced home on the play to break a 4-4 tie. Marco Hernandez scored on Sam Travis' sacrifice fly.

The Orioles got a run back in the top of the seventh on Alfredo Marte's leadoff double and Trey Mancini's RBI grounder. Marte replaced Hyun Soo Kim, who went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and is 0-for-16 this spring.

Martinez, 27, re-signed with the Orioles as a minor league free agent after batting .252/.310/.303 in 122 games with Bowie. He's appeared in six exhibition games.
