Quick updates on Young and Rasmus

Outfielder Delmon Young reached agreement on his one-year deal on Dec. 24. He completed most of his physical yesterday and just needed his bloodwork done today.

However, we still don't have an announcement from the Orioles and it may not come until Friday.

It's possible that the deal will be made official later tonight, but you reach a point where it becomes more likely to happen the following day.

I haven't heard anything regarding unexpected complications with the physical, but nothing surprises me anymore. In the meantime, we're just waiting here.

Meanwhile, to answer all the questions regarding Colby Rasmus, the Orioles maintain the same level of interest in him following manager Buck Showalter's visit on Saturday. Nothing has changed in that regard.

The sides continue to negotiate a one-year deal and it continues to look promising. The Orioles must be viewed as the favorites to sign him.

Rasmus views Baltimore as a favorable landing spot and he wants to parlay a one-year deal into something much bigger next winter. The Orioles need a left-handed hitter to play the outfield and rotate into the designated hitter slot.

My guess is the deal would guarantee around $7 million based on what I've heard over the past week.

As always, stay tuned.
