Roberts triple leads to first run (Jones hits three-run homer, O's win 10-2)

The Orioles won't be shut out today. They won't go the entire afternoon without putting a runner in scoring position. Their starting pitcher won't supply all of their offense. Brian Roberts led off the top of the sixth inning with a triple to right-center field, and he trotted home with one out on Nate McLouth's single to reduce the Giants' lead to 2-1. Roberts hadn't tripled since April 1, 2011. He now has two three-baggers since 2009. The guy's been hurt, you know? Roberts didn't have an extra-base hit since July 25 in Kansas City. He was in a 2-for-24 slump before the triple. McLouth stole second and Nick Markakis walked, but Adam Jones struck out to end the inning. Jones is 10-for-19 on the road trip. McLouth has 28 steals this season and three in his last five games. Bud Norris allowed two runs and six hits in five innings, with two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 98 pitches, 59 for strikes. Norris had gone six innings in each of his first two starts with the Orioles. Update: Chris Davis doubled in the seventh and J.J. Hardy clubbed his 21st home run to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead. Hardy's 21 homers lead all major league shortstops. Hardy has an eight-game hitting streak that includes three home runs and six RBIs. Meanwhile, Youse's Orioles, the O's scout team, just won the AAABA National Championship in Johnstown, Pa. That's a record-29 titles for the team, which is managed by part-time scout Tim Norris. Dean Albany now serves as general manager. Youse's Orioles were led by Ryan Ripken and James Boddicker. I'm pretty sure they have famous fathers. Ripken is expected to be named Most Valuable Player. Update II: The Orioles broke open the game in the eighth, scoring four runs to lead 7-2. Markakis collected his fourth hit in the last two days, an RBI single that scored McLouth and increased the lead to 4-2. Adam Jones extended his hitting streak to nine games, tying his season high, with an RBI double, and Matt Wieters singled to drive in another run and keep the bases loaded with no outs. Jones scored the fourth run of the inning when Roberts lined out to right. The Orioles are looking for their 22nd series win of the season and their 10th on the road. Ripken was named MVP of the AAABA tournament after batting .484 with 13 RBIs in seven games. Update III: The Orioles really broke open the game in the ninth, with Jones hitting a three-run homer off Barry Zito to complete a 10-2 victory over the Giants. Jones has 24 homers and a career-high 85 RBIs. Zito has a really fat bank account. Jones is 12-for-21 with two homers and eight RBIs on the road trip. Manny Machado registered his 43rd multi-hit game. The Orioles are 54-38 when they homer.
