Some O's notes before game three of the Texas series

Checking in on some O's notes, stats and facts as they get set to play Texas in game three of the series this afternoon at Camden Yards. *The Orioles have been involved in a shutout in back-to-back games for the first time all year, one they won and one they lost. They have been involved in shutouts in three of the last four and four of the past eight games, winning two and losing two. *The Orioles had just three hits in 30 at bats and were shutout on Friday for the ninth time on the season. *The O's are batting just .240 on the year vs. left-handers and .265 vs. right-handers. *The win by Texas on Friday snapped a six-game losing streak on the road. The Rangers won for just the fourth time in their past 12 games and are 8-11 since July 30. Texas improved to 12-22 on the year vs. AL East opponents. *The Orioles lead the season series 5-3 vs. Texas and, with one more win in the next two days, would take the season series for the first time since 2004 vs. the Rangers. *With Jake Arrieta allowing just 1 ER over 6 2/3 on Friday, O's starters have now posted 14 quality starts over the last 18 games, pitching to an ERA of 2.74 in that time. The Orioles now have recorded 58 quality starts in 123 games on the season, matching their total of 58 quality starts from all of last year. *The O's are 11-8 in August as they look for their first wining month of over five games since going 15-12 in June of 2008. *O's pitchers have given up just 1 ER in this series, lowering the team ERA from 4.95 to 4.88 over the last two games. That is its lowest point since it was 4.81 on June 12. *After going 8-1 in the first nine games under manager Buck Showalter, the Orioles are 3-6 over the last nine for a mark of 11-7. *The Orioles have scored just nine runs over the last four games and have been held to three runs or less in seven of the past 12 games. *Adam Jones is 0 for 12 over his last four games. Nick Markakis is 6 for 32 over his past eight games and Ty Wigginton is 3 for 24 over his past six games. *The O's bullpen ERA is 2.57 over the last nine games.
