Some Orioles-Yankees pregame notes (game update)

Some pregame notes to ponder as the Orioles meet the Yankees tonight in New York: * The Orioles went 5-13 vs. the Yankees last year. They are 4-5 in 2012 and a win tonight would match their win total of all of last year. The Orioles have won four of their last five games against the Yankees after starting the season 0-4. * The Orioles went 2-7 last season at Yankee Stadium and this year, they are 3-1 there, outscoring New York 18-7. Since a 2-1 loss in their first game there this year, they have won three road games in a row vs. the Yankees by a combined 17-5 score. The last time the Orioles won four games in a season series in New York was 2007 when they went 4-5. * The Orioles have now won nine straight games decided by one run. Hardy is 10-for-30 with a homer and eight RBIs. * Chris Tillman has won his last two starts, posting a 2.13 ERA in those two outings. The two wins marked the first time in Tillman's 40 career starts that he has won consecutive decisions. * Since scoring three runs total over a three-game stretch, the Orioles have scored 27 runs the last five games for an average of 5.4. They have nine doubles and seven homers with a team batting average of .301 in that stretch. * Of the Orioles' remaining 59 games, 49 of them are against teams that are currently leading their division (Yankees, Rangers and White Sox) or are within 4.5 games in the wild card race (Tigers, Angels, Athletics, Rays, Red Sox and Blue Jays). Quintanilla now has 12 hits over his last 23 at-bats. Over his last six games, counting tonight, Davis is 9-for-23 with three homers and 10 RBIs. The O's took a 7-5 lead to the third inning tonight.
