WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - We really haven't had much reason to worry about the weather this spring, but today that's unfortunately the case. The skies have darkened over The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in the last hour, and there's a good chance of heavy rain this afternoon, threatening the Nationals' game against the Mets.
If the weather cooperates, Bob, F.P. and Dan will have the call on MASN, and you'll be able to watch a good sampling of Nats regulars take the field. As has been the case more often than not this spring, Trea Turner is leading off with Jayson Werth batting second. Dusty Baker hasn't revealed his opening day lineup intentions just yet, but it sure seems like he's leaning toward hitting Werth up in the order rather than down in the order.
Erick Fedde gets the opportunity to make the start, perhaps one final opportunity for the young prospect to pitch in front of the major league coaching staff before he heads down to minor league camp to prepare for the opening of the season. The right-hander faces a tough test today, with most of the Mets regulars making the trip down from Port St. Lucie.
Update: The start of today's game has been delayed by rain. We'll update the status of the game if and when information becomes available.
Update II: The game is scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m.
