The final homestand of 2011

Well, Nationals fans. It's almost over. We're just three games away from the end of the 2011 season at Nationals Park. While the season doesn't officially end for the Nationals until next week, this weekend's three-game series with the Braves is the final homestand for our boys in the nation's capital. If you're heading to the park to take in one final game, there are plenty of perks to get you out there to root on the Nationals, who are aiming for that coveted .500 mark. Tonight in the series opener, Stephen Strasburg makes his final home start of the season. We all know the road Strasburg has taken to get back to the majors and now that he's here, he's picked up right where he left off. Come see him take on the wild card-leading Atlanta Braves. Tomorrow, it's the final installment of "Pups in the Park." Nationals fans can come to the game with their furry canine friends and enjoy one of the most popular promotions the team has to offer. While you're there with your pooch, you can take advantage of a 2-for-1 hot dog special, giving you the chance to enjoy a dog with your dog. Finally on Sunday, as the Nationals play on their home field for the final time until next spring, fans can purchase tickets for just $2 and be a part of the annual Fan Appreciation Day. Fans will have the chance to win a Sony camera, camcorder or television, among many other items. In addition, game attendees are encouraged to stick around following the last out of the game for a postgame celebration, which will include: Jersey Off Their Backs On-Field Ceremony: Winners of the annual Dream Foundation fundraiser will be awarded their authenticated game-worn, autographed jerseys right off the backs of Nationals players and coaches; Fans have until 2:00 p.m. to purchase $5 raffle tickets and winners will be announced before the 6th inning of the game. Player Farewell: Nationals players will move around the field to throw out various promotional items to fans in the stands as a token of appreciation for their support all season long. Kids Run the Bases: Kids ages 4-12 are invited on the field to run where their heroes play for the final time in 2011, weather permitting.
