Tillman receiving treatment on ankle (and other notes)

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman is receiving treatment on his right ankle today after rolling it last night while covering first base in the ninth inning.

Tillman took a throw from second baseman Jonathan Schoop after Nick Markakis' grounder deflected off first baseman Chris Parmelee. Cameron Maybin followed with a double, and Tillman was removed one out shy of a complete-game shutout.

Britton earned his 26th save in a 2-0 victory over the Braves.

Tillman has allowed three runs in his last four starts covering 29 2/3 innings.

Left-hander Daniel Norris, acquired from the Blue Jays today, will start Sunday against the Orioles. Norris is taking David Price's spot in the Tigers rotation.

Manager Buck Showalter sounded like he expected the Orioles to make a move before Friday's 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline.

"That's the bet," he said, placing the odds at 51-49.

Showalter said the Orioles had interest in some of the outfielders who have been traded, but they couldn't match the offers from other clubs. They contacted the Indians about Brandon Moss, who was dealt to the Cardinals for minor league pitcher Rob Kaminsky, a first-round pick in 2013.

"There have been some guys who are gone that we were talking about," Showalter said.

Asked whether he senses that executive vice president Dan Duquette is feeling pressure to make a trade, Showalter replied, "I hope not."

I'll have more from Showalter in my next entry.

Steve Pearce, on the disabled list with a strained left oblique, will head to Sarasota on Sunday to continue rehabbing. He won't be ready to come off the disabled list on Aug. 3.
