Tillman through the seventh (O's win 4-2)

So, who's irritating Yankees manager Joe Girardi the most tonight? Is it Orioles third base coach Bobby Dickerson, manager Buck Showalter or starter Chris Tillman? Right now, my money is on Tillman. Tillman has retired 14 batters in a row to carry a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. He struck out the side in the top half of the inning. The Yankees have one run and three hits off Tillman, who's walked none and struck out nine to tie his career high. Tillman also fanned nine batters on Aug. 9 and 24. Tillman has thrown 107 pitches tonight, 76 for strikes. The Orioles tried to pad the lead in the sixth, but Michael Morse struck out to strand two runners. Adam Jones led off with a double and Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia walked J.J. Hardy intentionally with two outs. Morse is 3-for-17 with the Orioles. Chris Dickerson replaced him in left field in the seventh. Tonight's attendance: 17,456 Update: The Orioles increased their lead to 4-1 on Manny Machado's two-out double in the seventh that scored Matt Wieters, who led off with a walk. Machado has 49 doubles this season. He's on pace to hit 56, which would tie Brian Roberts club record set in 2009. The run was unearned after Sabathia's throwing error on a comebacker from Alexi Casilla. Tillman is back out for the eighth inning with Tommy Hunter warming in the bullpen. Update: Lyle Overbay ended Tillman's night with a leadoff home run in the top of the eighth to reduce the Orioles' lead to 4-2. Tillman allowed two runs and four hits in seven-plus innings, with no walks, nine strikeouts and two home runs. He threw 110 pitches, 78 for strikes. Tommy Hunter replaced Tillman and struck out the side. Jim Johnson is warming in the bullpen. Update II: Game over. Jim Johnson gets his 43rd save in the Orioles' 4-2 win over the Yankees. Alex Rodriguez singled to lead off the ninth inning. Robinson Cano grounded to short for an apparent double play, but Alexi Casilla's throw sailed over Chris Davis' head. One on, one out. Alfonso Soriano grounded into a force and Curtis Granderson flied to the fence in center field. Tillman is 16-5 with a 3.66 ERA.
