Tillman with career-high seventh consecutive quality start

Chris Tillman continues to bounce back from his disappointing 2015 season.

Tillman turned in his seventh consecutive quality start tonight in Houston. Astros right-hander Doug Fister came within an out of doing the same.

Tillman allowed two runs and three hits over seven innings, one swing from Luis Valbuena in the fifth accounting for all the scoring.

During his streak of quality starts, Tillman has allowed 10 runs over 46 1/3 innings. His ERA remains at 2.61 for the season, exactly where it stood before tonight.

Manager Buck Showalter removed Tillman tonight after 105 pitches. The right-hander has thrown 105, 101, 110, 110, 107 and 109 in his six previous starts.

Because he's facing a no-decision in a 2-2 game, Tillman will remain tied with Hal Brown for 14th place on the club's all-time wins list 62. Dick Hall is ahead of them with 65.

Tillman had won each of his last five starts before tonight. The seven consecutive quality starts are a career high.

Opponents were batting .191 against Tillman in his last six starts before tonight. He held the Astros to three hits over seven innings.

Also going into tonight's game, Tillman was 17-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 30 career outings against the American League West. Tonight marked his 21st quality start.

Pedro Alvarez homered off Fister in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. He was 5-for-9 with a home run versus Fister before tonight.

Earlier tonight, the Orioles placed T.J. McFarland on Triple-A Norfolk's disabled list with a left knee injury. The move is retroactive to Saturday.

The Tides split a doubleheader tonight with the Gwinnett Braves.

Mike Yastrzemski went 4-for-6 with a double, home run, walk, two stolen bases and three runs scored. He has four consecutive multi-hit games and is batting .424 (14-for-33) with eight extra-base hits and seven RBIs over his first nine games at the Triple-A level.
