Tonight's Twins-Nationals game postponed (with pitching alignment for Sunday)

Davey Johnson was hoping last night's game would get postponed to allow his team to rest and his starting rotation to get aligned in a favorable way. The Nationals skipper was also hoping tonight's game would get rained out, giving his banged-up team another day to rest. Johnson's gotten what he hoped for. Tonight's Twins-Nationals game has been postponed due to inclement weather. No make-up date has been announced as of yet, but the two options appear to be having a doubleheader on Sunday or rescheduling tonight's game on Monday afternoon, which was set to be an off-day for both the Nats and Twins. The Nats will likely push back Gio Gonzalez to start tomorrow's game against the Twins. Gonzalez had originally been scheduled to take the rubber last night, but will have to wait two extra days to get the ball. Update: The Nationals have announced that they'll play a split doubleheader with the Twins on Sunday, June 9. The original game will still be played Sunday at 1:35 p.m. and tonight's postponed game will be made up Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. Fans with game tickets to tonight's postponed contest may use their original tickets for the 7:05 p.m. make-up game on Sunday. Those unable to attend the 7:05 p.m. game can exchange their tickets for any remaining regular or value home game during the 2013 regular season. Update II: The Nats have set their starting rotation through the weekend, but there is now a question about how they'll align things for next week. Gonzalez will indeed get the start tomorrow against the Twins. Jordan Zimmermann will then start the first game of Sunday's doubleheader at 1:35 p.m., with Nathan Karns getting the ball in the nightcap, which is set to start at 7:05 p.m. The Nats have a scheduled off-day on Monday, and Dan Haren would then start on Tuesday in Colorado. That's where things get a bit more complicated. Unless Ross Detwiler is ready to come off the DL on Wednesday and can start that day (which is unlikely) and unless Gonzalez is brought back on three days' rest (also unlikely), the Nats will probably need to call up a starter to pitch that game against the Rockies Wednesday night. Detwiler was scheduled to throw 40-50 pitches in a rehab appearance for high Single-A Potomac tomorrow, and while it's possible he could be then return to the Nats' rotation on Wednesday, the Nats would probably prefer to play things carefully with Detwiler and his back/oblique strain and give him normal rest to make sure he comes into his start completely healthy.
