Tony Renda named to the AFL Top Prospects Team

Hey, have we found the Nationals second baseman? Well, maybe not this season, but at least he's in the system. The Arizona Fall League named Mesa Solar Sox second baseman and Nats prospect Tony Renda to the 2014 AFL Top Prospects Team. The criteria laid out by the league was that "voters were asked to consider fall league performance and major league projectability." Here's the AFL's writeup on Renda: Started at second base for the East Division in the Nov. 1 Fall Stars Game ... hit .200 in 22 games with three doubles, one triple and seven RBIs ... .233 on-base percentage, .259 slugging percentage and .492 OPS. The 23-year-old Renda hit .307 in 107 starts with the high Single-A Potomac Nationals. He had 25 extra-base hits and 47 RBIs with 19 stolen bases. He has made a class jump every season and is likely headed to Double-A Harrisburg this season to play second base for the Senators.
