Tyler Townsend rejoins the Frederick Keys

The Single-A Frederck Keys are getting their first baseman back tonight. The Keys have activated Tyler Townsend and put catcher Kyle Moore on the disabled list. Townsend has been out since July 13 with a recurring hamstring injury. He was hoping to be activated earlier this month but suffered a setback. Most recently, he tested the hamstring by playing five games in the Gulf Coast League. He went 4-for-17 with two doubles, a homer and eight RBIs. In 64 games with Frederick on the year, Townsend is batting .318 with 23 doubles, 13 homers, 50 RBIs and a .943 OPS. Before he went on the DL, in seven games with Frederick in July, Townsend was batting .440 with three homers, 11 RBIs and an OPS of 1.460. Townsend has been one of the organization's best minor league hitters this year and his overall batting average of .313 leads O's farmhands and his 14 homers rank third even with the time he has missed. Maybe he can help Frederick set a single-season record for wins. The Keys are 76-51 with 12 games to go. No Frederick team has ever won 80 games in the regular season.
