Updates on tonight's game, Roberts and rotation (O's down 3-0)

Chris Tillman loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first inning tonight and received a visit from pitching coach Rick Adair. Not quite the way Tillman wanted to start this game. Michael Brantley lined to left field, scoring Mike Aviles and giving the Indians a 1-0 lead. Tillman allowed a hit and issued back-to-back walks to bring Adair out of the dugout. He threw 23 pitches in the inning, only 11 for strikes. Down on the farm, Brian Roberts doubled off the fence in left field in his first at-bat with Triple-A Norfolk. Roberts was batting from the left side and drove the ball to the opposite field. Roberts scored his first run on Jason Pridie's single. Manager Buck Showalter still hasn't named a starter for Friday night's series opener against the Yankees at Camden Yards. Kevin Gausman and Rule 5 pick T.J. McFarland are two candidates. Showalter won't provide a full list. "I've got a pretty good idea who it is," Showalter said. "We know pretty much, but something could happen between now and then that could change it. I think I know where we're going." Asked if it's a pitcher on the current 25-man roster, Showalter said, "I know where we're going." "Good try," he added. "I just don't think it's good for them to... Something could happen with our bullpen that may change it where we have to go get somebody and use a certain person to get him here." Update: The Orioles averaged 8.82 runs per start for Chris Tillman in his last six outings since May 24. Tonight, they don't have a baserunner against Indians starter Justin Masterson through four innings. The Orioles have hit two balls out of the infield. That's all. Jason Kipnis hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead. Tillman has walked four batters, tying his season high. Down on the farm, Roberts is 1-for-2 for Norfolk. Henry Urrutia went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Double-A Bowie's first game tonight. His average is up to .361, which leads the Eastern League by 25 points. Urrutia has 22 multi-hit games in 50 games with Bowie. He probably won't be there much longer. As I wrote this morning, the Orioles are talking about promoting him to Norfolk. It shouldn't be much longer.
