Updates on Bundy, De Aza and Miranda

Today's game will start at approximately 5:45 p.m. The rain has stopped again and the tarp is coming off the field.

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette confirmed that pitcher Dylan Bundy underwent an MRI today on his right shoulder and it didn't reveal any structural damage.

bundy-sidebar.jpgThe MRI confirmed that Bundy has tendinitis in the shoulder. He's been prescribed rest and anti-inflammatory medication.

Bundy was scratched from last night's start after experiencing discomfort in his shoulder. He's 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA in eight starts at Bowie.

In his last outing, Bundy worked a season-high four scoreless innings and struck out five batters.

Duquette said a couple of teams have expressed interest in outfielder Alejandro De Aza, who was designated for assignment earlier today. He's confident that De Aza will land a major league job, whether it's via trade or waiver claim.

Duquette said the Orioles haven't heard from Major League Baseball regarding reliever Brian Matusz's appeal on an eight-game suspension. He expects word to come within the next few days.

Cuban left-hander Ariel Miranda met the media today, accompanied by his trainer and interpreter. Same guy.

Miranda will work out in Sarasota before the Orioles decide whether to assign him to Single-A Frederick or Double-A Bowie.

Miranda knows Cuban outfielders Henry Urrutia and Dariel Alvarez, having played against them, and he spoke to them about the Orioles.

Duquette wouldn't reveal the size of Miranda's signing bonus, but he said it's in line with other Cuban players in the organization and it doesn't exceed Alvarez's $800,000.
