Vlad's bat heats up

Orioles cleanup hitter Vlad Guerrero has a hot bat right now. He has produced four straight multi-hit games after going 2-for-5 last night. Over the four games, Guerreo is 9-for-19 with five doubles and three RBIs. He is batting .433 (13-for-30) over his last seven games, raising his average 31 points. In 39 games on the year, Vlad is batting .298 with four homers and 16 RBIs. I'm sure the Orioles are enjoying his hot bat and also hope the RBI production can increase. He did get a clutch RBI last night in the ninth versus Mariano Rivera. While Guerrero is batting .351 with an OPS of .889 in May, he has just three RBIs in the month. On the year, he is a .257 hitter with runners in scoring position. Amid a second straight gloomy loss, two other Orioles bats stayed hot last night also. Adam Jones is hitting .412 (14-for-34) with seven RBIs over his last eight games. Matt Wieters is 15-for-37 (.405) with five RBIs over his last eight games. By the way, Jones' throw in the top of the sixth last night was one of the best I've seen by an Oriole this year. He ran into the gap in right-center and then fired an absolute seed right to the bag at second to throw out Alex Rodriguez by a mile. Jones is just playing at a real high level right now.
