A look at every player's contract status entering the offseason

As you may have already realized, the offseason came quick this year. Not because it began any earlier than any previous one. Because the Nationals' season lasted longer than any previous one.

So even though the Nats are still in the midst of a World Series championship celebration that continues this afternoon with a trip to the White House, they're already in the process of figuring out who's going to be on the roster in 2020.

Stephen Strasburg opted out of the remaining four years of his contract and is now a free agent (though he's expected to have serious negotiations with the Nationals about re-signing a new deal). The club declined 2020 options on Ryan Zimmerman, Yan Gomes and Matt Adams, making all of them free agents for now. The team picked up options on Adam Eaton and Sean Doolittle. And nine others officially became free agents the day after the World Series ended: Anthony Rendon, Brian Dozier, Fernando Rodney, Howie Kendrick, Jonny Venters, Daniel Hudson, Jeremy Hellickson, Asdrúbal Cabrera and Gerardo Parra.

That's a lot of prominent names who are no longer under contract with the Nationals. Any (or all) of them could still return next season, of course. But at the moment, all are unemployed.

There will be more decisions coming in the next few days and weeks and months. And there will be plenty of time to go into each of them in more detail. But if nothing else, we should offer up a quick rundown of everybody's contract status as of this moment, just so you know who's guaranteed to be back in 2020 (and at what price) and who is in limbo.

Everyone below is broken down into four categories: Those who are already signed for next season (with their 2020 salaries listed), those who are due to receive a raise through arbitration (with their 2019 salaries), those who have fewer than three years' service time and remain under club control (with their 2019 salaries) and those who are now free agents (with their 2019 salaries) ...
