A quick turnaround

I'd like to start by wishing a Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially my dad, who currently gets his baseball fix by working as an usher at Nats Park. When it was clear my career as a baseball player wasn't going to take off, (strangely enough, there isn't much of a need for scrawny infielders with an average glove and no power), he made sure to tell me not to give up on my dream of working in sports. Thanks, Pops. It's not easy playing a 1:30 p.m. game the day after a 14-inning marathon. It's even tougher playing a 1:30 p.m. game the day after a 14-inning marathon followed by a charity event, which went into the night. The Nationals' annual Dream Gala was held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center after last night's game. The event, which raises money for the Dream Foundation, was scheduled to start at 6:30. No one told home plate umpire Tim Timmons, who helped yesterday's game carry well into the five-o'clock hour. It will be interesting to see how much life both the Nationals and Yankees have today. Yesterday's game was a grind, and things weren't made any easier on the Nats due to the timing of the Gala, which is mandatory for players. Hopefully the Nats have a little juice left in their legs; they'd love to avoid being swept for the third time this season.
