Another offensive explosion nets Nats 9-4 win

Remember that scene in "When Harry Met Sally," when Meg Ryan is slapping the table and the random lady nearby turns to the waitress and says, "I'll have what she's having"? The rest of the league wants whatever the Nationals have been having over their last eight games. Was that a bit of a reach? OK, my bad. Since last Tuesday, the Nats have averaged 8.6 runs per game, which is remarkable, given they hadn't scored eight runs in any of their 25 contests prior to this streak beginning. They racked up nine runs today, piling up 12 hits, five of which went for extra-bases. Ryan Zimmerman, Michael Morse, Jhonatan Solano and Rick Ankiel all went yard for the Nationals, who with the victory today take a four game lead in the National League East. Edwin Jackson went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and notching his fifth win on the season. Tom Gorzelanny, Sean Burnett and Michael Gonzalez combined to work 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to close it out. The Nationals have now won 18 of their 28 series this season and have thoroughly dismantled the Giants in back-to-back games, outscoring them 18-7. The team with the best record in the National League looks a good bit better than the team with the second-best NL record, at least at the moment.
