Following a week in which he hit .483 (14-for-29) with three doubles, two homers, seven RBI, five walks, one stolen base and six runs scored, Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon was named National League Player of the Week on Monday. He hit safely in all seven games, including multi-hit efforts in four of the seven, during a week in which the Nationals posted a 6-1 record on the seven-game road trip.

In Washington's sweep-clinching 7-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, Rendon went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, one walk and two runs scored.
